Well, Epik High is going on hiatus so Tukutz can do his military time. I trust them to be back, if they say they'll be back, and probably with a bang. Because I kind of trust Tablo with everything. I think he should become ruler of the world, for god's sake. So, yeah. Obviously I'm going to trust him if he says they'll be back in two years.
Still, this makes me extraordinarily sad. I mean, I kind of adore Tablo. He's amazing and wonderful. And as a result, Epik High counts as the one and only hip-hop group I can stand to listen to without wanting to throw myself off the nearest balcony. I will miss them.

Ok. Animated Batman musical episode. It goes so far past stupid that it comes back around and kicks itself in the ass, leaving awesome in its place. Neil Patrick Harris as a froofy singing super-villain.
Go Watch.
Honestly. When else in your life are you going to see Black Canary, Green Arrow, Black Manta, Aquaman, King Clock and Grodd dancing a kick-line of death? Would you really want to MISS that?

Hee, Colors on MTV-J. First time I've seen it through, too.
Yoochun is the fluffiest thing ever.His smile is seriously amazing and makes me want to snuggle and squish him. There needs to be a death penalty in place for make him sad. Anyone with me on instating one? ^_^;
Toho Gojira Ki still concerns me, more now that I've actually seen the context. I don't trust Jaejoong not to accidentally squish those poor people.

From the same photobook as the crazy-ass picture of Yoochun with his herd of whores , we have Han Geng with an elephant. Which is adorable
( Under the cut because I don't want to break anyone's flists )
He looks so delighted by the thing, whereas the other three look a little dubious. Much too adorable, that boy. I should just decide that I like SuJu so that I can fangirl him. Except I don't like SuJu, so that would be very odd indeed. But, anyway. Picture is adorable. It quite reminds me very much of the adorableness that was FT Island on the sheep farm. Except with an adorable Chinese dancer instead of a fluffy Korean bassist doing the ^_^-ing while his bandmates exhibit varying degrees of reluctant enthusiasm.

Just saw this on TV. It will haunt my nightmares for years to come.
The fact that the first of those two comments reads "Really cute! Nice! I like it!" scares me, too. I can't see anything except terror, drugs and WTF in it. Certainly nothing cute.
Unrelated except by language, can any of the Japanese-able people on my flist tell me what the difference in meaning is between kyou/今日/きょう and honjitsu/ほんじつ/本日? Thanks and sorry.

Good god. I've never been a huge fan of Shakira, I'll say that right now. That said, the MV for Shewolf just came on TV (I'm watching the J-MTV. They actually play music videos. Most of the time, even).
I think that may be an insult to, uh, just about everything ever. Just...just...watch. Sony has demanded all embedding be disabled, it appears, so I'm afraid you have to go to Youtube to see. But...seriously. Tell me I'm not crazy, and that it's as crappy as my brain says it is
The insult starts with music, and moves on to making a travesty of choreography, costuming and, ultimately, Shakira herself. She's a gorgeous woman (and can sing a hell of a lot better than THAT, even if I don't like her music), and those costumes were just ridiculous. That black thing was supposed to be revealing, I suppose, and instead just made her look like she was half missing. The fuck, music world?
Now they're playing Thriller. ^^;

Versailles' bassist has died. Shit. I knew he was sick and unable to perform, but I didn't realize it was a life-threatening illness. Although judging by some of the reactions from the band and other people in the jrock community, it looks like maybe they didn't know, either.

Max Changmin and Hero Jaejoong: Saving me from screaming children, one note at a time.
As previously mentioned, I had a screaming child next to me for much of the trip from Narita to Detroit. Thus my ipod was put on overtime trying to keep me from murder or suicide. Although I felt worse for the woman in front of me, who was this very proper Chinese lady who desperately wanted to change seats. The boy was kicking her seat for about an hour, before I took pity on her and decided that after years of living on a farm and a few more teaching six year olds, I could deal with being kicked a bit and told the mother to turn her son so that the flailing was hitting me. And then I had to be the mother for a couple of times when the mom left and that went over badly with the child. Blah.
ANYWAY! the point of this is that I was saved largely by my ipod, since the child was grabbing anything and everything, thereby making my laptop/writing impossible. This ended in me actually hearing Changmin's Miroticon solo for the first time.
Now, I think it might be a religious song, which makes me a bit confused, but it seems remarkably popular in Korea, a search on Youtube discovered many Korean performancesmostly by women but I hardly care. Holy high notes, Batman. I put it on loop with Jae's solo and just sort of listened again and again.
Now, you must all download it and listen. Because I realize I'm biased and must know if it is actually wow, or I'm just so infatuated with Changmin that mediocrity sounds amazing. Especially now, because, well, DBSK emotions are running a bit high for obvious reasons. And if it is amazing, well, you should listen to it anyway. I'd give you Jaejoong's too, because it is silly and awesome and growly and cute and Jaejoong, but that's not on my thumbdrive and therefore unuploadable, since there's no wireless available here.
Anyway. Download. Listen to Changmin sing a possibly Christian song usually sung by Korean women: Upon This Rock.
There are high notes.
And Plague "God has excellent sniper rifles" was a comment on my previous line that I was thinking 'God shoot me now' for most of the trip. Usually it's "someone shoot me now" or "God kill me now". God usually isn't the one doing the shooting. I will try to answer your LJ here someday. Not now. Now I am being booted from the computer.

1. DBSK: Darkness Eyes
I can't see yesterday... today... not even tomorrow.../searching for the answer/
Where... where in the world should I go? Just a pretty, pretty song. Also, kind of disturbingly hotwhich is why it's first on my playlist for angsty smut writing
2. FT Island: Don't Love Me
All the sadness that this departing love built up has crashed/I can't even move a step so I just stand crying with my back on you. Not my very favorite FT Island song, it's still a very pretty ballad that cashes in nicely on Hongki's ability to sing like he's crying.
3. Charlotte Martin: Every Time it Rains
Take it as it comes/And take me as I am/I never was a good imposter/But I know how dream Charlotte Martin is an indie rock/folk singer. She plays her own piano, for the record.
4. DBSK: Doushite Kimi o Suki ni Natte Shimatandarou
But, even though I say that I need you close to me/I just pray that you will be happy forever/No matter how lonely that makes me (or how sad) There's so much that could be said about this song, and nothing does it justice. If you haven't listened yet, do.
5. JHCat4HotA: Do Me
I heard your wife died the other day/I want to be the one first to say/that I want you to do me!. Ah, Jesus H Christ and the Four Hornsmen of the Apocalypse. The satire is strong with them, and I'm just happy on of their songs started with the assigned letter(s).
6. Ana Johnsson: Don't Cry for Pain
Before you leave, when you go/I think you ought to know/I don't cry for pain/I only cry for love.
7. DBSK: Eognyeo: Are You a Good Girl?
Holding it, and letting go/You fumble with my heart/ You fumble with me too much that I can’t even move, This is really mostly just a fun song to listen to. It's also a case study in adorableaze. ^_^;
8. Dir en Grey: Egnirys Cimredopy
On the moonless night/I started to speak to the wall with my lower half/even past eighteen I still have wet dreams/speaking of which you're a porno mag. Okay, so the lyrics are fucked up. With very few notable exceptions, I never listened to Dir en Grey for the lyrics. I listened to them for that pretty, whiny voice.
9. Epik High: Exile
Um. This is actually an instrumental. A very, very pretty instrumental from Remapping The Human Soul.
10.Within Temptation: Deceiver of Fools
The lyrics to this are not particularly memorable. Standard gothic rock stuff. But the instrumentals and melody are some of my favorite from Within Temptation. Ends up as BGM to a lot of my writing.
So there you go. From legends of visual rock to 東方神起 ripping your heart out, to songs about wanting to have sex with recent widowers. ^_^v

Tickets? Check. Train tickets? Check. Venue maps? Check (at least, hopefully I got the right ones!). Hostel reservation conformation? Check.
Now. I just have to get through work today. For a trip that wasn't even on the radar two weeks ago it's become a very happy-making thing.
The general plan for this afternoon is a bit oO. I fly out of work after kyushoku, or possibly during it, to catch the 1:10 bus back to Iwakuni. Catch various trains, hopefully the correct ones, to kyobashi (I'm praying that they have coin lockers for my suitcase. Otherwise...I have no idea) and then dart to the concert venue, possibly grabbing something to eat during the hopefully several minutes in line I'll have before the doors open. I shall be tired. Fluffy rockbabies will fix that, though. I imagine. Oh, and I have to change my clothes somewhere along the way. Hopefully the shinkansen isn't too crowded and I can do it between station stops. Since I'm not entirely sure I'll be able to catch that 1:10 bus, I couldn't pin down an exact train from Hiroshima to Shin-Osaka, so I have an unreserved seat. Seeing as it's Friday and all, I may get to stand for the duration. I'm hoping the "early afternoon" bit will make that not be the case, though. ^^;
Once I'm in the plan largely consists of hoping that they play TV Radio early on, since I don't like the song and therefore can spend the duration of it giggling over Jonghoon's godawful poofy hair (I stand by my "...-cute-cute-cute-cute" confused caterpillar statement, Plague). Because some of their other songs are not so suited to giggling.
Afterward, it's hoping that the trains back to Shinosaka come quickly and I don't get lost on the way to the hostel and miss check-in. That'd be...bad.
No idea what I intend to do with myself on Saturday. Twiddle my thumbs, I guess. Maybe go to into the city or Kyoto, but I'm largely lacking in the money needed for such adventures.
And then there's Sunday. Dear god, I still can't quite believe that Epik High just HAPPENED to schedule their concert for the right day, and in Kobe. Taaaaabloooooo. *__* Oh, and the rest of Epik High and the various other people. But, uh, not so excited about that, no offense to them. I like them, but...it's Tablo. The man I would gladly follow and support if he decided to take over the world. ^^;
Soooo....yeah. Fluffy rockbabies and Epik High. I am very wiggly. And very much hoping I can manage to teach my classes without getting too distracted by the impending. ^_________^
*wriggles*
I'm sorry for this, to the people on my flist who are also interested in seeing one or both of these groups. It's not really fair. But I have nobody else to bounce at. Sorrysorrysorry.

DBSK took #1 on the Oricon daily chart, which I suppose is not entirely surprising. FT Island made another jump from The One and got #15, which is yay and makes for a cute little sandwich of Koreans on the rankings page.
Yay for them both. Seeing DBSK getting more and more number ones is fun, and a top 20 for FT Island is nice. Here's hoping they both hold their spaces for the weekly.

Hello, friends and acquaintances! I've got a conundrum.
See...The Epik High's Map the Soul tour? Is coming to Kobe, on Sunday, with an afternoon show.
On Friday, I shall already be in Osaka letting some guy rip my American friend in half so I can go see adorable Korean teenagers sing some non-adorable songs (and a few REALLY adorable songs). Osaka and Kobe are only a stone's throw from one another.
This means that, for another $100 dollars total, I could go seeeven more Koreans Epik High ($50 for the ticket, $35 for the hostel room on Saturday night, and $15 for the tickets from Shin-Osaka to Kobe and back). I can do my work at the hostel just as easily as I can at home. No problems there. In fact, I'm thinking about booking an extra night in the hostel anyway and just messing about in either Osaka or Kyoto on Saturday anyway.
I'm going to have to buy those tickets tomorrow though, if I go for it. They've apparently already sold out SF in the States, which is kind of awesome. I don't know if Japan will go as fast, especially Kobe, but I should still probably get on the ball. ^^;
C'mon peeps. Tell me yes or no. I don't care which one. Just tell me what to do!
(It's not helping that tomorrow is going to completely and totally suck. I don't particularly know what my specific role in class will be, and I WOULD go early to discuss it with the teachers, but a different school wants me there for the school-wide picture. This means I have to go to that school for the picture, and then dash back to the school I'm going to be teaching at, hopefully before the bell rings for first period, since I'm teaching it. Oh, and five classes because Kawashimowants to see their ALT break wants to have me teach all the 5th and 6th grade kids each week. Stress reduces my self-control to something around 0.002)

So. Epik High's Map the Soul album seems to be causing, uh, epic wank (pun not intended except in hindsight). Sure, I'm all for supporting the guys' break from a major label and buying the album, but leeching of music is a way of life nowadays. There's nothing else for it. Flaming and yelling and hurting people's feelings is not going to do anything.
I am disappointed.

Wow. I fell asleep with my TV on, watching a classical orchestra play Bach.
Woke up to V6. Not a car engine, either. The jpop group. V6 is a Johnny's band on the fluffiest, bounciest side of the scale. My poor little brain is broken.
Worst of all, I can't find my remote, and my TV is retarded so I can't do a thing with it unless I have the remote. I'm stuck with overly bouncy fluff. SHINee on speed without the adorable hero worship.
...now KAT-TUN is singing something about a teacup. I do believe this might be a Johnny's showcase of some sort.
Edit: Now Arashi is doing something involving a church and really bad English and I'm thoroughly disturbed. Jaejoong, not Matsumoto Jun, is the antichrist
