MCU fandom is having ship wars.

Based 99.99% on the trailer.

And most of the people involved are idiots who can't read characterization for shit.

I…think I may be too old for this shit.

Nah, MCU fandom has been having shipwars since the fandom existed.

This particular round? The warring I've been watching is from spoilers from the film itself, since it's already showing in a number of places.

Mind you I'll also say guilt-free that the fighting is giving me great entertainment -- it's a great distraction from the mess that is the current L5R story plans. But horses for courses and all that, really --

This is a weird ship war, though. I cannot figure out how being with one man over another "ruins" Natasha (I mean, I shake my head at those who say ANY man ruins her, but can at least vaguely comprehend the planet they're coming from. But a specific man? Pfft.)

This one started with the trailer, and has escalated as people have seen it in various places. Most of the people flitting about like angry chickadees, however, have only seen the trailer, at least where I'm looking. The ones who HAVE seen then film are "…listen, why don't you wait until you have all your answers before losing your shit?"

MCUdom is a very angry place right now between shipwars, Hawkeye, and Renners and Evans' apology apparently "not being good enough". I'm sure you're getting all sorts of entertainment. :D

See, it doesn't matter which man it is -- anything would "ruin" her if the one arguing doesn't like it, because that's the kind of faux-PC arguments make up shipwars in this benighted age pretty much across fandom as a whole. (it's what makes all this alternately aggravating and hilarious; right now MCU is firmly in the camp of hilarious ~)

Believe me, you don't want to see how dirty the fighting is in the tv!Flash fandom -- that one's not funny at all. I haven't even managed to see the show yet but I've seen the shipwars. Oi.

Don't forget the people upset that Bucky isn't all over the movie, I've seen those also :D And the Loki stans likewise :D

it almost makes up for knowing DC movies are going to continue to suck lol

Did I miss things in the 90ss/2000s? I remember ship wars, yes, many with unsheathed claws, and smearing of women characters that "get in the way" of MM ships. However, I cannot think of a single instance of, say, Heero/Duo fans saying that Trieze/Heero fans supported pedophilia and should be ostracized, tarred and feathered by society. (Recall a pretty interesting conversation on the implications of Anthy/Mikage, but it was started by the shippers themselves...)

I think I'm happy that I don't have too much of a horse in the MCU race, despite tWS being my favorite movie of the past 5 years (and if they just sweep Bucky under the rug for the sake of Civil War I will be a bit peeved). They're fun movies. They're mostly good movies. They haven't dragged any characters through a proverbial meat plant (As of right now MCU Tony is more "my" Tony than the one in the comics), and they have gotten people into comic stores near here, and that's awesome. But enjoying them in isolation seems the best move.

Tangentially related: Have you seen the "What if Man of Steel was in color?" video? Some person or persons used color correction to cancel the filter on a variety of scenes. It makes the grim so much MORE obvious

Nah, this shit really only got off the ground in the last few years. Fanits were more honest in their irrational hates back in the day ~

Much like the antics of Potterfen in days gone by, I'm enoying watching the mess around a thing I'm tangentially interested in at most, lol X3

nope, mainly because I won't watch anything to do with MoS fullstop
